John LEFT the house in a rush this morning. As he WAS DRIVING to work he suddenly REMEMBERED that he HAD BEEN ASKED to speak at a conference. He LOOKED at his watch and SAW that it was nearly time for the conference to begin.

Last March Sam DECIDED that he HAD HAD enough of working in a bank and that he WOULD RIDE around the world on a bicycle. He LEFT England two weeks later with his bike, a rucksack and a tent. He HAS BEEN away for six months now, and no one KNOWS whether he WILL RETURN or not.

Jan and Paul ARE ARGUING in the next room at the moment. It SEEMS that Paul CAME in late night after he HAD PROMISED Jan that he WOULD BE home in time for dinner. By the time he GOT home, Jan HAD GIVEN his dinner to the dog and HAD BEEN WAITING by the window for two hours!

Jane and Andy WERE WAITING at the airport in Cape Town to catch their plane back to London. They HAD BEEN on honeymoon in South Africa for four weeks and they FELT very relaxed and happy. They HADN'T BEEN WAITING long when their flight WAS ANNOUNCED.
“Flight BA 207 to London, Heathrow leaves in one hour. Will passengers go to Gate 4 and wait there to board?”
As they WERE MAKING their way to Gate 4, Jane and Andy HEARD another announcement: “Flight D234 to New York IS DELAYED due to a technical fault. Will passengers please go to Gate 5 and wait there for further information?”
“Oh dear!” said Jane. “I HOPE people WON'T GET confused. What WOULD HAPPEN if someone GOT on the wrong flight?”
“DON'T BE silly” said Andy. “That's impossible. This is an international airport. All boarding cards ARE CHECKED before anyone IS ALLOWED to board the plane.”

Jim WAS WALKING along the High Street when he NOTICED someone behind him. Actually, he HAD BEEN FOLLOWING him since he GOT OFF the bus. Jim STOPPED at a shop window. The man WAS COMING closer to him. Jim HAD the feeling he HAD SEEN him before, so he WENT up to him and ASKED: "DON'T I KNOW you? Why ARE you FOLLOWING me?" The man SMILED and SAID: "Smile! You ARE on Candid Camera!"
