Losing a Brief-case
William: I’ve lost my brief-case. I must go to the Lost-property Office at once
and enquire about it. But I’m busy and it won’t be till tomorrow that I’ll be
able to go there.
Susan: I’ll go to the Lost-property Office for you, William. I work near there
and can collect your brief-case.
William: Could you really manage to? I’d be most grateful.
Susan: Yes. Where did you leave the brief-case?
William: Well, I must have left it in the train, I’m afraid.
Susan: I say, about what time did you lose it, William, and on what line? I mean
railway line.
William: I think it was about 9 o’clock at Liverpool street station.
Susan: You’ll have to write down the description of your brief-case for me.
What was it like?
William: It’s a dark brown leather one and it has two straps.
Susan: What was there inside the brief-case?
William: Some office papers and a book I was reading. Some kind of detective
story, I forget the name, I’m afraid.
Susan: Well, I’ll call at the Lost-property Office tomorrow, if you write down all
the details. It’s no good going there without them.
