William told Susan that he had lost his briefcase and that he had to go to the Lost-property Office at once and enquire about it. But he was very busy and it wouldn't be till the next day that he was able to go there.
Susan suggested that she went to Lost-property Office for William as she worked near there and could collect his briefcase.
William was surprised that she could manage to and answered that he would be most grateful.
Susan asked where he had left the briefcase and William told her that he was afraid, he must have left it on the train
Susan pointed that she was asking about what time he had lost it and on what railway line.
William guessed that it had been about 9 o’clock at Liverpool street station.
Susan asked him to write down the description of his briefcase for her. What was it like? And what was there inside the briefcase?
William said that the briefcase was a dark brown leather one and it has two straps. There were some office papers and a book he had been reading. Some kind of detective
story the name of which he was afraid he had forgotten.
Susan admitted that she would call at the Lost-property Office the next day if Willam wrote down all the details because it was no good going there without them.
