London has a diverse range of peoples, cultures, and religions, and more than 300 languages are spoken within its boundaries.[17] In July 2007, it had an official population of 7,556,900 within the boundaries of Greater London,[18] making it the most populous municipality in the European Union.[19] The Greater London Urban Area (the second largest in the EU) has a population of 8,278,251.[2] while the metropolitan area (the largest in the EU) has an estimated total population of between 12 million[3] and 14 million.[4] The London Underground network, administered by Transport for London, is the most extensive underground railway network in the world,[20] London Heathrow Airport is the world's busiest airport by number of international passengers[21] and the airspace is the busiest of any urban centre in the world.

London is visited by millions of tourists every year. They come there to see the sights of London and to visit London’s museums. There are a lot of museums and art galleries in London which are would – famous.
The National gallery is situated in Trafalgar Square and one of the best know art galleries in the world. It was founded in 1842 and houses one of the most important collections of Italian and Dutch paintings.
The National Portrait Gallery is situated near the National Gallery. It is one of the great art gallery of portraits of famous people of Britain history.
The famous Tate Gallery was opened in 1897. The Gallery contains a unique collection of Britain paintings from the 16th century to the present day. The Gallery also has many drawings and modern sculpture.
The Victoria and Albert Museum is a collection of fine arts. It was opened in 1857 and was named after Queen Victoria and her husband, Prince Albert.
The British Museum is one of the world’s greatest treasure-store. It was founded in 1753. Today the museum has two departments. In British Museum there are collections covering the history of plants, minerals and the animal world. The British Museum is also knows for library, which is the greatest and most famous in Britain.

The East End includes the poorer districts, the industrial center, the port, the London docks. The streets here are narrow and dirty, the houses are poor. Working class families live here. London is famous for its wonderful places of interest such as the British Museum, the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, and many others.
