The city of Voronezh is located in the European part of Russia on river banks Voronezh, in 8,5 km from its falling to the river Don.
During the Great Patriotic War the German troops partially occupied the city and caused it a significant damage. On January 25, 1943 Voronezh was freed. One of city streets is called in honor of this event the street on January 25.
After collapse of the USSR in Voronezh, as well as other Russian cities, there were huge changes in the political and economic sphere. The large enterprises were on the verge of bankruptcy and for an exit from this situation entered into holdings and concerns with other enterprises. The city administration had a number of problems – impossibility of operation of city transport, bad roads, etc. which and can't be solved today. In Voronezh architecture monuments are destroyed, construction in historic center is conducted that negatively affects culture of the city.

Voronezh is a city (since 1586[3]) on the South, middle belt of the European part of Russia, the administrative center of Voronezh region. Located on the banks of the Voronezh reservoir of the Voronezh river and the left Bank of the don river. The distance from Moscow - 534 km the population of the city of Voronezh - 1 014 610[2] people (2014). Around Voronezh formed agglomeration with a population of more than 1.3 million people.
