I've always looked up to my stepfather. Every evening he would come home and tell the stories about his work. We would sit in the living room and talk until dinner was ready. Basically, we got quite well with each other. He would tell me that there was no day that he put up with the slackers (те, кто не работает на работе) - he would always give them a good smackdown (взбучка). I liked such an approach to work and I always tried to take after him in this respect.
When there was work to do around the house, my stepfather would never turn it down: he would do the washing up, laundry and even coming when my mother was exhausted.
Once during the lunch at school when we were given away or meals, one of the boys tried (and succeeded) to call in my portion. I shamefully submitted to him as I was too scared of this bully.
When I came home, I told my stepfather what had happened with the tears watering my eyes. He got infuriated and on the next day, when he was by the entrance of the school to pick me up, I heard the poor boy hanged by his jacket on the tree branch yelling with terror. At that moment I realised that I could count on my stepfather, that he would never leave me in misery.
And despite the fallout (негативные последствия) caused by such non-adult behaviour of my stepfather at the schoolyard, I still thought this measure was justified.
