It was a stormy night when Jenny arrived at Norwich Station. It was raining hard and a strong wind was blowing. As she got off the train she remembered that she didn't have an umbrella. So she went into the station and phoned her friend Paul. Paul was getting into the bath when the phone rang. As soon as he heard the phone, Paul got out of the bath. He took a towel and wrapped it round his waist. Just as Paul wanted to pick up the phone, the doorbell rang. He dropped the phone on a chair and walked to the door of his flat. He was just going into the hall when he heard the sound of water on the bathroom floor. He ran into the bathroom and turned the water off. Then he opened the front door. His friend Stan was standing in the rain. "Hi, Paul,” said Stan. “Is Jenny here yet? She told me she would come to visit you."
“Perhaps that was her on the phone,” said Paul. "I wanted to answer the phone when you rang the doorbell. Come in." He walked back into the living-room, but when he picked up the
phone, there was no one there. Jenny must've been\was already on her way to the flat in a taxi.
