Английский язык. Чем Past Continuous отличается от Past Perfect?

Past Continuous and Past Perfect are both past tense verb forms that are used to describe events or actions that happened in the past. However, they are used in different contexts and convey slightly different meanings.

Past Continuous is used to describe an action or event that was in progress at a specific time in the past. It is formed by using the past tense of the auxiliary verb "to be" (was or were) plus the present participle (-ing form) of the main verb. For example:

Past Perfect is used to describe an action or event that had been completed before another past event or time. It is formed by using the past tense of the auxiliary verb "to have" (had) plus the past participle of the main verb. For example:

I had finished my homework before I went to bed. (The action of finishing the homework was completed before the speaker went to bed.)

Чем Past Continuous отличается от Past Perfect?
1-действие длилось в определенный момент в прошлом,т.е. было в ПРОЦЕССЕ- The children WERE PLAYING in the garden at 5 o'clock yesterday.
2- действие завершилось К какому-то моменту в прошлом либо ДО другого действия в прошлом- We HAD FINISHED the project BY 9 o'clock yesterday.
They HAD already WRITTEN the article when he CAME.

He was doing his homework at 5 o'clock. (Past Continuous) Действие происходило в этот момент в прошлом.
He had done his homework by 5 o'clock. (Past Perfect} Действие закончилось, завершилось к этому моменту в прошлом.
