Есть видеоуроки, где носители языка учат задавать вопросы. Одна из учителей посоветовала правило "5Wh": все вопросы задавать с вопросительных слов, начинающихся с Wh: Who, Where, When, Which, Why. А дальше подстраиваетесь под ситуацию.

Например, она говорит, что она живет в Канаде. Великолепно. Вы продолжаете спрашивать: Где (where) конкретно учится девушка (Канада большая, учебных заведений много) .
