Елена Федорова, в вашем тексте есть грубейшие грамматические ошибки, причём их полно. Наприемр, "Малышам дарят новые игрушки" - это "Kids are given new toys", а не ваш вариант. Далее подробно разбирать ваши ошибки не буду, но я бы за такую грамматику поставила не более тройки.

New Year is my favourite Holiday. There are some other good holidays which are popular in our country, but New Year ia absolutely special. The New Year atmosphere is really magic. In December, all the people around are already pleasantly excited about the upcoming New Year holidays. They do shopping, choosing gifts for their friends and relatives. Every street is nicely decorated with blinking lights, and I always enjoy watching the amazing illumination in the centre of the city. Children are happy to help their parents decorate the fir-tree and the house with glass toys, garlands and lights of various colours. They make wishes, writing letters to Father Frost and waiting for something magic to happen. People prefer to spend this time with their families, young people often get together and party all night. Anyway, New Year makes people closer to each other and creates a positive mood.

New Year is the most popular holiday in my famaly. At the beginning of December everybody has a festive mood. In the city the streets and shop windows are decorated with bright garlands. A huge Christmas tree is put at the main square. We begin to prepare for the holiday. We buy Christmas-tree decorations. We also buy gifts for relatives and friends. We usaly celebrate New Year sitting around the table and having dinner. Later in the night we walk otside and make fireworks. I like this holidsy very much.

One of the most remarkable public events in my country is the Victory Day. It is traditionally celebrated on the 9th of May. This patriotic holiday commemorates the victory of the USSR over the Nazi Germany. Every year in honour of this day in all cities across the country lots of cheerful parades and celebrations are held. Despite the fact that the holiday is celebrated in a flamboyant way, May 9 is a sad day for the majority of our population. Many people have lost their loved ones and close relatives during this ruthless war. From one hand everyone is happy that the country wasn’t occupied by the fascist invaders, from the other hand everyone grieves over their loss. On this day we are grateful to our saviors, to those who sacrificed their lives for us. That’s why we try to celebrate this day with honours. Some part of younger generation doesn’t understand the importance of this event, which I think is disrespectful. In my opinion, the Victory Day is one of the greatest holidays during the year. Some of my ancestors also took part in the Great Patriotic War of 1945, and I’m proud of them.
