Весь текст перепечатывать не буду – только предложения, где прямая речь преобразована в косвенную.

1. The young man – his name was Tom – stopped and said softly to himself (addressing himself by name) that he must take it easy and control himself.
2. The young man stopped … and said to himself once again (addressing himself by name) that he must take it easy and control himself.
3. The man told to himself not to worry. He said to himself (addressing himself by name) that it was OK and that he would be all right.
4. She said that he was a great father because he knew how to talk to his baby in a nice, quiet voice.
5. … and asked the baby, calling him Tom, what was wrong with him.
6. … and said that the baby was a girl, Sabrina by name, and that Tom was his name.

Ну, а второй текст я перевела ранее:
Aesop, a Greek philosopher, was famous for his jokes. One day Aesop was out for a walk when he saw a man. The man was lost. The man greeted Aesop and asked how long it would take him to get to the town. Aesop told him to go. The traveller didnʹt understand the reply. He said that he knew that he had to go, and repeated his question, but Aesopʹs reply was the same. Не told him to go again very politely.
The traveller went away. He decided that Aesop was mad. After the traveller had gone some distance, Aesop shouted after him that he would get to the town in two hours.
The traveller came back to Aesop and asked him why he hadnʹt told that before. Aesop replied that he hadnʹt told that because he hadnʹt known how fast the traveller could walk.
