One winter afternoon, when Rosemary was buying something in a shop, a little creature, no older than herself, who shivered as though she had just come out of the water, asked Rosemary to have the price of a cup of tea. Rosemary was very surprised, when she got to know that the young girl didn’t have money. It seemed to Rosemary such an adventure, so she decided to invite the girl to her house. Rosemary was going to prove to her that wonderful things did happen in life, that rich people had hearts, and that women were sisters. She led the girl to her house and plied the poor girl with everything. She was very kind and considerate with her.
When her husband, Philip, came home and saw that, he call Rosemary for the talk. In time of this talk he said her that this poor girl was astonishingly pretty. Rosemary was so surprised that she blushed. She was jealous of him. So she gave to the poor girl three pound notes and sent away her.
The imageries of main characters help the author to uncover the main theme and idea of the story.
Rosemary was very rich, young, not exactly beautiful, brilliant, extremely modern, exquisitely well-dressed and amazingly well-read woman. She is married two years and her husband absolutely adored her.
She is too proud, haughty, naive, unthinking woman. For her this story was only adventure, about what she would talk to her friends. She helped this poor girl, not because she pitied her, but because she wanted to play a role of philanthropist. She was very jealous. When her husband told her that this girl is beautiful she becomes the woman of property: she sent away the girl.
The author through imagery of Rosemary want to convey to us the idea that „every woman is very jelouse when refers to her family“ and show the moral of the story: „Never bring into the house the woman, who is more beautiful than you“.
I like this story, because it is actual even nowaday. It affect the problrems, which will be always actual, because the problems of jelousy and families relation and problem of relation between poor and rich are eternal.

asked Rosemary for the price of a cup of tea

When her husband, Philip, came home and saw their guest, he called Rosemary for a few words. He told her that the poor girl was astonishingly pretty. Hearing that, Rosemary was so taken by surprise that she blushed. She felt jealous of him. So, she gave the poor girl three pound notes and sent away her.

She is such a proud, haughty, naive, unthinkful woman. To her, this incident was only a small adventure of which she would talk to her friends. She helped the poor girl not because she felt pity for her, but because she wanted to play the role of a philanthropist. She was a very jealous woman. When her husband told her that the girl was beautiful, she became a woman of property: she sent the girl away.
Through the character of Rosemary, the author wants to convey the idea that every woman gets very jealous when something threatens her family. And here he implies the moral of the story: never bring into your house a woman more beautiful than you are.
I like this story because it is still relevant in our days. It raises the problrems of jelousy, family relations, as well as of the relations between poor and rich, which are ever existant.
