The cat is the pet tamed by the person long ago. And these pets more often than others keep in the house. Why? I think that so occurs for many reasons. The cat a small, independent, clean animal, care of cats doesn't demand special abilities, and communication brings great pleasure.
The majority of the animals tamed by the person, to it were necessary as a food source, assistants in hunting, that is brought real advantage. And a cat of people tamed much later, than other animals - cows, horses, sheep, hens, and others. Why also what advantage of it for the person? Probably, the person was pleasant to it and became useful, and it cast in the lot with it. Other animals came under to influence of the person and often changed, living together with the person. But a cat, having become forever the companion of the person, remained independent, capricious almost half-civilized. Quickly getting used to the owner, the cat doesn't lose independence. It is visible feature of cat's type.
House cat very independent animal, besides I consider the most graceful, charming and tender. Cats more often other animals keep in the house. How it appeared near the person? Than communication with a cat involves the majority of people? Let's try to understand. Having considered history of a domestication, feature of behavior, a trait of character and having carried out some experiences.
