Basketball

Basketball is a handball game usually played by two teams of five players on the court. A basketball is a spherical object that rolls and bounces. The objective is to get the ball through a hoop mounted high on a backboard at back end. It is a very popular sport worldwide, played with a round and usually orange ball that bounces. Basketball players mainly use skills such as dribbling, shooting, running, and jumping.

The game is played between men's teams or between women's teams. Basketball has been played in the Summer Olympic Games since 1936. The shot clock rule started in 1954. The first basketball game took place in 1892, where the court was half the size of what it is today.In 1891 the game was invented by James Naismith.

The history of basket ball In early December 1891, James Naismith, a Canadian physical education teacher at Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts invented an indoor game called basketball. He invented the sport to keep his students from becoming bored during the winter. Naismith wrote the basic rules and then nailed a peach basket onto a 20-foot tall pole. Unlike modern basketball hoops, the bottom of the peach-basket was still there, so after a point was scored, somebody had to get the ball out of the basket with a long stick. Over time, people made a hole at the bottom of the basket so the ball could go through more easily.

The score of the first game of basketball ever played was 1 - 0. There is a sculpture in Springfield, outside where the first game was held. The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame is also in Springfield.

Since the rules hadn't been formally written, there was no maximum number of players then, unlike today. This also meant that there were no set rules to the game; Naismith only observed and changed the rules accordingly.

Nevertheless, scientists agreed on their differences, and came to the conclusion that chess originated in the first century of our era in Northern India. It is assumed that chess was the prototype of various warriors and battles, but without bloodshed, and therefore won great interest among the rulers of ancient states, where they could fight each other without causing their troops a single scratch.

   Many scholars believe that modern chess has evolved from the ancient game “chuturanga”, in which such figures as hash, ratha, ashwa, padati, and also rajah were represented. Later this game began to be called “chaturraja” (a game of four kings), in which the figures were already located on a 64-cell board, but in different corners. Since the 64-cell board appeared at this particular time, it is customary to date the emergence of chess from this very moment.

   There is one very ancient legend that tells of one intelligent peasant. One day, he came to the king, and talked about the new game. The game (current chess), the governor liked very much, but in return, the peasant asked for one condition to be met, and then he would have told in more detail about his game. The king agreed. The conditions were as follows: we put grain on each cell of the chessboard, so that each time the number of grains increased in a square. That is, on the first cell - 1 grain, on the second cell - 2 grains, on the third cell - 4 grains, and so on. The king laughed, and said that he would easily fulfill this condition. Then he ordered to open the royal barn, and called the servants. Everyone began to fail the calculations, but they realized that it was simply impossible to fulfill this condition. This amount of grain is not on the entire planet !!!The king did not fulfill his conditions, but the peasant was not upset, and explained everything thoroughly about the game of chess. As a reward, the king gave out all the grain reserves from the barns and gave them to the peasant, who divided him equally into his whole village. It is from this legend that the history of chess begins.

   The chess game is practically endless - if a man had not moved away from the board since the times of Adam and Eve, then in this case all the games would not have been played so far.
