here are my favorites:

if you like mystery, thrillers: all books by Dean Koontz, start with "False Memory", "The Door to December", "Strangers", "Watchers", "Dark Rivers of the Heart", "Winter Moon", or "Seize the Night"

if you like history novels: all books by Leon Uris, start with "Exodus", "QB VII", or "Trinity"

if you like SF, I'd recommend Philip José Farmer, especially his Riverworld series: "To Your Scattered Bodies Go", "The Fabulous Riverboat", "The Dark Design", "The Magic Labyrinth", etc.

if you like legal thrillers, the best would be John Grisham, although I don't like his leftist political inclination.

Daniel Silva is author of 12 thriller and espionage novels. I like his Michael Osbourne series: "The Mark of the Assassin" and "The Marching Season", as well as his Gabriel Allon series: The Kill Artist, The English Assassin, The Confessor, A Death in Vienna, etc.

AND FINALLY MY FAVORITE: Nelson DeMille. I red all of his books, you might want to start with Word of Honor, The Charm School, The Gold Coast, The General's Daughter (also a movie), Spencerville, Plum Island, By the Rivers of Babylon, The Lion's Game, Wild Fire. He has it all - history, mystery, thrillers, you name it.
