Last Saturday my boyfriend Jack and I DECIDED to go to the mountains for a walk because we WANTED to spend another Saturday with my family.
We LEFT early, but when we WERE DRIVEING there the car BROKE DOWN.
Jack DECIDED to walk to the next village to phone for help.
While I WAS WAITING, my brother Sam WAS DRIVING past in his car.
He STOPPED and he WAS LOOKING (LOOKED) at the engine.
He is mechanic,so he STARTED to repair it.
While he WAS WORKING, w e WERE DISCUSSING our plans for the summer.
I WAS TELLING my brother about a little town in Italy where Jack and I STAYED last year when my parents ARRIVED.
While Sam FINISHED (WAS FINISHING) repairing the engine, we WERE TALING about places to eat in the area.
Then we all WENT to the village to meet Jack and finally we all HAD lunch together.

Use Past Simple or Present Perfect
I HAVE LIVE in Rome four years but before That I LIVED in London for two years.
Peter HASN'T PLAYED tennis for months, althought he WON a competition last year.
We WENT to America in February and we HAD a great time. WHEN DID you GOthere?
DID you DO anything interesting last weeken? No,I STAYED at home.I DIDN'T GO out.What about you?
They HAVEN'T SEEN Johnny Depps new film,so they may go next Saturday.
HAS Simon BOUGHT a present for Sarah? Yes,he HAS GOT her a CD.
What time DID Dave and Sue ARRIVE?Their train WAS late,so they DIDN'T ARRIVE until about midnight.
I DIDN'T PHONE you last night because I FORGOT all about it.Sorry
