Animal world of Russia

1) The animal world of Russian forests is very rich. Because of the big size of our country, its animal world is much richer than that of many other countries.
2) If you go to the forest or to the mountains, you can meet a lot of small and big animals there. The small animals are hares, squirrels, hedgehogs, mice, rats, snakes, and different birds. The big animals are wolves, elks, reindeer, deer, bears. Some of these animals are harmless (for example, hares or squirrels) but some are very dangerous (for example, wolves or bears).
3) There are animals that live only in the Far East – for example, tigers. And there are animals that live only in the North – for example, reindeer and polar bears.
4) The place where I live is inhabited by a lot of different animals. We often see foxes near our town. People say that in the nearby forests there are wolves and bears. There are also many birds here – seagulls, pigeons, crows, and sparrows. 5) In my town almost everyone keeps pets like cats, dogs, budgies and so on. And if you take a trip to some village near the town, you will also see horses, cows, goats, hens, cocks, and geese there.
