It’s almost Christmas. Tom and his brother Bob are writing their letters to Santa Claus. Both boys want the same thing – a bike. “We can ride the bike together!”
At night in their bedroom Tom says, “I’m older than you. I’ll always ride the bike down the street, and you can ride it up.” “No, you won’t,” says Bob. “It’s my bike, too! I’ll ride it down the street!” Tom and Bob start to fight about the new bike. At the end they go to their mother.
Their mother is very sad. Her little boys never were so unkind to each other. She kisses their faces and tells them how their naughty words hurt her.
Christmas morning comes. The boys get out of bed and go to get their presents from the stockings. Each little red stocking is full of toys and sweets. They are so happy! But where’s their new bike? Suddenly, Tom says,”Bob, here’s a letter!” They take the letter out and they read it, “My dear boys, no bike this year. You were not good to each other, so I was afraid to bring it. Get ready for it next year. Merry Christmas! Santa Claus.”
