1. (Mr. Brown said) "The boys may come any time tomorrow." 2. (Mary wondered) "Why didn't they write proper letters instead of so many picture postcards?" 3. (Mr. Brown suggested) "Why not start with Land's End?" 4. (Jack explained) "We had to book seats several days ahead. The place was full of tourists." 5. (Mr. Brown asked the boys) "Never mind the cakes. Tell us about Land's End." 6. (Mr. Brown wanted to know) "Did you go through St. Ives on your way to Land's End?" 7. (Jack reminded George) "You're forgetting the narrow old fashioned streets and that ancient church." 8. (George asked Jack) "Was it on the way back?" 9. (Mr. Brown asked) "Can't we see the presents later?"
