Английский... возник вопрос. Помогите, пожалуйста.

Первый вариант характерен для британского английского. Второй -- для американского.

Алексей, есть различия между британским и американским вариантами английского языка. Важно не переносить механически правила одного варианта на другой. В британском однозначно Present Perfect, в американском -- допустим и часто используется Past Indefinite. Например, в известном справочнике English Grammar in Use (Raymond Murphy) об этом говорится. А вот отрывок постинга на эту тему.

с lately, как с наречием неопределённого времени, употребляется Present Perfect
