On the 3d of April in 1973 the head of the branch of the mobile communication of Motorola Martin Kuper walked in the center of Manhattan and decided to call by the mobile telephone. Passers-by were amused and did not understand what had happened. The commercial mobile telephony would appear only 10 years later.

Properly speaking the basic principles of the mobile telephony is a usage of frequencies by many communicants, transference of a call a mobile telephone to another one. These principles were developed in famous labaratories of Bell in 1946. But only in the end of 1960s AT&T (the owner of Bell Labs) and their rivals from Motorola got realy interested in these developments.

As a matter of fact, main principles of a mobile telephony - use of frequencies by many subscribers, transfer of a call from one "honeycombs" to another - have been developed in Bell's well-known laboratories in 1946 But only in the late sixties these workings out have caused real interest at AT&T (owner Bell Labs) and competitors from Motorola.

AT&T, offering to Americans rent of automobile radio stations, has decided also a cellular telephony to develop in the same style. The device in weight about 12 kg took places in a car luggage carrier, a control panel and a tube took out in salon, and for the sake of the aerial it was necessary to make a hole in a car roof. But this device worked, and its owners had not to drag weights in hands.
