I am invited by my friend to her birthday party. Very many guests ARE EXPECTED to come and I WAS ASKED to help her with the food. Last night I WAS GIVEN a long list of things I had to buy. I went to the largest shop where I hoped to get everything I needed. There I WAS SHOWN the best sorts of fruit, cheese, sausage, etc., but I couldn't make up my mind which to take. I HAD BEEN INSTRUCTED by my friend to buy apples of the best kind, but which apples were the best? At one shop I WAS TOLD by a shop girl to take big red ones. At another shop I WAS OFFERED still better apples. At last I made up my mind and bought the red apples which HAD BEEN SHOWN to me in the first shop; they looked so nice!
I hope the guests will like them and I will be praised. Other friends HAVE BEEN ASKED to help with the cooking. Meat IS BEING TAKEN CARE OF by Nina, our best cook, and pies ARE BEING LOOKED AFTER by Mary; they are both in the kitchen now. The guests are expected in half an hour and the table HASNʹT BEEN LAID yet. We must hurry.
