Katie Leclerc's ABC Family drama Switched at Birth returns for a third season Jan. 13, but she's thinking back on the awesome 2013 she has had.
"The highlight of 2013 has to be getting engaged. I'm so lucky in love," Leclerc, 27, says of fiance Brian Habecost. "That and buying a house. Look at me getting all domesticated. I am growing up!"
On the small screen, she's still a kid, playing deaf teenager Daphne Vasquez.
"It's the most challenging and rewarding role I've ever had," says the actress, who isn't deaf but has intermittent hearing loss brought on by Meniere'sdisease, an inner ear disorder. "We have great support" from the deaf community, she says of Switched. "It resonates with them."
A few more fun facts about Leclerc:
She'd still consider her mom "mom" if she were switched at birth. That said, "if Steven Spielberg was my dad for a day, I don't think it would be so bad, especially if he could talk to some of his Hollywood friends."
She was born in San Antonio. "My favorite thing to do in San Antonio is eat Chinese food. My parents have always owned restaurants, they have a Chinese restaurant (there) now called Fire Wok."
She'd like a career like Kristen Bell's. "She started off in television and made her way into movies and is kind of everywhere now."
