In the20th century, there were many inventions, such as televisions,
flight machines, computers, etc. Among these inventions, some people think
that the television is the greatest invention while some others may think the
flight machine is the greatest. As for me, the computer the greatest scientific
invention of the0th century.
Originally, the computer was just a calculator, It was created by a
Frenchman to calculate some complex figures. Then, it was used to
process warfare data after the outbreak of Second World War. Later, the
US Investment Center tried to incorporate it with a typewriter.That became
the first computer model in the world.However, it had a huge size which
occupied a space as large as one or two rooms.Its main function was limited
processing a small amount of figures. Moreover, it consumed a lot of power.
People tried hard to improve it by doing intensive research.Thus, computers
improved and evolved into the models we see nowadays.
With the invention of computers, our lives changed and were filled with
fun.Firstly, it provides entertainment for us.We can watch movies, listen
to music or even browse the Internet for the latest information in the world
which increases our knowledge profoundly.Besides, computers enable us
to communicate and keep in touch with friends and relatives though e-mails,
instant messengers and ICQ.
Other than providing fun and entertainment, computers are serviceable
at work.People can use the software in the computer, like Microsoft Word,
Excel or PowerPoint to deal with the heavy and complicated workload.It can

The XXth century was a time of scientific and technological progress. It is no wonder so many things were invented then. I'd like to tell you about the invention I find most useful, which is the mobile phone.

I suppose for most of us nowadays it is hard to imagine how people lived before the 1990's. We use mobile phones 24/7. They wake us up, tell what the weather is like today, remind us about our friends' birthdays, let us keep in touch with the nearest and dearest all the time.

It's funny how little mobile phones are used for making actual phone calls. Some time ago people switched to texting and now messengers are used to communicate with your contacts. And of course we shouldn't forget that thanks to the mobile phones we can access the internet whenever we want.

All in all, mobile phones make our lives so much more comfortable. That is why for me it is definitely the most useful invention of the XXth century.
