Mark Twain, а/the famous American writer, was once invited to the opera by his friend. The friend was very rich. He and his wife had a box at the opera house.

When they had taken their seats in the box, the writer was unpleasantly surprised to realize that he must avoid turning his head to the lady, because the moment he did so, she started talking loudly and gaily about things that had nothing to do with the opera.
