Если конкретно этого года, то нужно. А вообще - без надобности.
Артикль точно нужен, а почему не знаю.. .
А! Знаю. НАВЕРНОЕ, в данном случае "год" - это так называемое "generic reference", то есть "обобщающее" (как точно по-русски не помню)
типа как в предложении The Russians like vodka или The tiger lives in India (в значении "тигры живут в Индии"). Наверное так...
