Вопрос по фразовым глаголам английского языка!!!

Для тех, кто знает: Как правильно их употреблять. Например фразовый глагол "HOLD OUT". Как правильно говорить : to hold out a hand или to hold a hand out. И по возможности не могли бы вы мне объяснит побольше таких случаев со фразовыми глаголами.
Тo hold out a hand это буквально протягивать руку для приветствия.
Тo hold a hand out это образное выражение, протянуть руку, в смысле, запустить руку (в чужой) карман или протянуть руку в плане прошения подаяний.
