What is the difference between a swamp and a marsh?

Why do people just copy websites without answering the question? A swamp and marsh are very similar. However, as a swamp has more woody vegetation whereas a marsh has more "leafy" () vegetation, neither of them have to be coastal.

"МАРШ" - болотистая пустошь
"СВОМП" - наподобие описанного в "Собаке Баскервилей", с деревьями, но и с глубокими трясинами.

The biggest difference is trees. Swamps are wetlands that have trees and are usually found along river flood plains and poorly drained basins. Marshes, on the other hand, are treeless wetlands that are characterized by the growth of luscious plants, such as cattails, reeds, and grass.

-Swamps are wetlands characterized by trees growing out of a wet and silty soil. Swamps are usually found along flood plains around river or basins with poor drainage. Marshes, however, are treeless wetlands characterized by the presence of grasses, reeds, cattails, sedges, and other herbaceous plants. Marshes are usually found in still, shallow water found in ponds, lakes, and rivers.

-A marsh is defined as a wetland that is continually inundated with water. Marshes can be tidal or nontidal and are characterized by saturated soils and grassy vegetation. Swamps contain vegetation that is predominantly woody plants and shrubs as well as water-tolerant trees such as the Cypress.
