1. I don’t like Alice. She complains about difficulties of life ALL THE TIME. Present Simple – для выражения частых повторяющихся действий. 
2. I burnt my hand on a hot stove YESTERDAY. Past Simple – для выражения однократного действия в прошлом. 
3. I AM TIRED. We have been walking FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR. Let's stop and rest for a while. Present Perfect Continuous – для выражения длительного действия, которое только что завершилось с видимым результатом. 
4. Before I went to bed I decided to check the front door. I was NOT sure my sister (to lock) it. And I was right! Мне кажется что здесь не хватает NOT для смысла – я не был уверен что сестра заперла дверь. Past Perfect – для выражения действия, которое завершилось до ещё более позднего – до того как я лёг спать. 
5. BEFORE ADAM GOT MARRIED, he had been hiking to the mountains every summer. Now he goes to the seaside with his wife. Past Perfect Continuous - для выражения длительного действия, которое закончилось до другого действия в прошлом. 
6. The wind blew down the tree in our front yard LAST WEEK. Past Simple – для выражения однократного действия в прошлом. 
7. A group of scientists are travelling around Africa. How many countries have they visited SO FAR, I wonder? Present Perfect – в данном случае глагол выражает весь период времени до настоящего момента. Сколько стран они посетили к настоящему времени? 
8. He had been feeling ill FOR THREE DAYS, so HIS MOTHER WANTED TO BRING HIM TO A DOCTOR, but he didn't want to go. Past Perfect Continuous - для выражения длительного действия, которое началось до другого действия в прошлом 
9. David is quite an athlete. He wants to be strong and healthy that's why he jogs EVERY MORNING. Present Simple – для выражения частых повторяющихся действий. 
10. The Alisons have got three cars, two of which they NEVER use. Present Simple – для выражения действия вне времени. Здесь нет ни повторяющегося действия, ни регулярного. Просто люди чего-то не делают вообще, ни вчера, ни сегодня ни завтра. 
11. She is taking too long to get ready. WE ARE GOING TO BE LATE. Present Continuous - для выражения действия, которое происходит в настоящий момент речи. 
12. It was in the spring when leaves appear on trees and nature prepares herself for renewal. Other things happen too-people fall in love. Странное предложение, смущает was в начале предложения, а его не должно быть по согласованию времён, должно быть is. Но по общей модели - leaves appear, а people fall - Present Simple для выражения частых повторяющихся действий, опять же вне точного времени. Влюбляются весной и всё. А когда весной, не важно. 
13. When Alice was small, she was afraid of darkness and always slept with the light on. Past Simple – для обозначения обычных действий в прошлом. 
14. I have been reading this book FOR 2 WEEKS. Present Perfect Continuous для выражения длительного действия которое началось в прошлом и ещё длиться. 
15. Robert didn't answer the phone WHEN MARY CALLED. He was taking a shower and didn't hear the phone ring. Past Continuous - для выражения длительного действия в определённый момент в прошлом. 
16. Jerry promised to come to work in time. HE IS NOT HERE, and he hasn’t even called. Present Perfect – для передачи действия которое ещё не произошло к настоящему моменту с результатом – человека нет. 
17. The train is leaving AT 12 P.M. TODAY. Present Continuous – может обозначать запланированное действие в будущем, но можно и Future Simple – will leave. 
18. THE GOVERNMENT IS WORRIED because the number of people without jobs is increasing. Present Continuous - для выражения действия, которое происходит в настоящий момент речи. 
19. While the kids were playing in the garden, THEIR MOTHER WAS HURRIEDLY COOKING DINNER. Past Continuous - для выражения двух и более одновременных длительных действий в прошлом. 
20. Paul looks young for his age. He says hу is 56 years old, but nobody believes him. Present Simple – для выражения действия вне времени.
