One day Muni (именно так пишется имя главного героя) met a red-faced man who took an interest in a horse statue. Muni hadn't attended school (past perfect употребляем, т. к. Муни характеризуется как "old man") and didn't know the language of the foreigner and said his name in Tamil. Then the foreigner said that he would speak slowly and he asked Muni if it was his statue and whether he wanted to sell it. Muni started to tell him that the horse was their "guardian, it meant death to their adversaries" (в кавычки взяла цитату из оригинала) . He asked the foreigner if he knew what happened next (полагаю, нужно "что случится дальше" - what would happen next)and the red-faced man answered that he would put the statue into the boot (хотя в оригинале он сложил задние сидения, а не положил в багажник) . The foreigner gave Muni 100 rupees, but Muni said that it could be changed only at the " village headman" (цитата). He pointed at the goats and said that they ate Headman's vegetables. The red-faced man patted the goats. Muni understood that the foreigner wanted to buy them and went away not to let goats follow him.(so that the goats wouldn't follow him). He came home and told his wife that he had sold thу goats. But all of a sudden they came back. The wife was at white heat (in a fury) and said that she would leave for her parents' place.
