New Year is our favourite winter holiday. New Year is celebrated on the night before the 1st of January. The main symbol of New Year is the Christmas tree (= the christmas tree is the main symbol of New Year). Father Christmas and Snow Maiden who are also believed to be symbolS of New Year come to children and give them presents. Meeting New Year relatives (families) sit down to (one) table (for a holiday meal). In a lot of countries head of state addresses the people 5 minutes before midnight (ну, просто для разнообразия) .

Я не вижу большой беды с артиклями.
New Year может употребляться как с артиклем, так и без. Дед Мороз и Снегурочка как имена собственные артикля не требуют, так же, как и head of state.

Можно начать хотя бы с того, что празник называется New Year's Eve )))
Дед Мороза лучше так и обозвать Grandfather Frost или Jack Frost.
Ну, а с артиклями тут просто беда...
