1. What have you done today? - I've typed a lot of (many) letters. - I would like to look at the letter to Mr. D. - Here it is. I've just typed it. - And what about the letter to Mr. R? - I haven' typed it yet. I'll have typed it by COB (= by the close of business.)
2. We met our friends yesterday. We hadn't (haven't) seen them since the university graduation. They had worked in Orel prior to coming back (prior to returning) to Moscow. (They had workded in Orel before they came back (returned) to Moscow.
3. A (the) new plant will have been built by the beginning of next year. It will be equipped by the most modern (state-of-the art) equipment.
