A lift and 390 steps were made so that the visitors could reach the crown top of “Lady Liberty” and admire the view of the area. The Statue of Liberty was recognized as a symbol of American freedom. Ninety years later the statue was restored by a team of French and American experts.

Не понимаете, что делать? Как вариант, начать наконец учить. Смешное оправдание: "никогда не учила". Раз вам это задают, значит, вы уже должны это знать.

was/were + третья форма глагола

Русский, видимо, тоже не учила, раз в вопросе знаки препинания неправильно поставила
