В англ. яз. есть простое правило по артиклям:
Артикль "а" ставится перед неопределенными существительными ЕДИНСТВЕННОГО числа (т. е. когда существительное относится к какому-то общему виду, роду и т. д.
Артикль "the" - перед определенными существительными (детям объясняют так: "the" - переводится как именно этот предмет (явление) - т. е. 3 буквы в написании - 3 слова) .
Перед существительными во множественном числе артикли вообще не ставятся!
Все проще-простого!
