Мрамор имеет такую особенность, что при ярком дневном свете он выглядит белым, на заре он выглядит розовым, а в лунную ночь серебристым.
С левой стороны от усыпальницы находится мечеть из красного песчаника. Справа точная копия мечети. Весь комплекс имеет осевую симметрию. Усыпальница имеет центральную симметрию относительно гробницы Мумтаз-Махал. Единственным нарушением этой симметрии является гробница Шах-Джахана, которую там соорудили после его смерти.
