The capital of the Arkhangelsk region, Arkhangelsk is a city with half a million people.
In 1553 in the White Sea British expedition ship came and sought the north-east passage to China. So England discovered Russia, and Russia-England. Most important historical event of the city - is the birth Rossiyskogo flag, because it is here that Peter I came up with design of the flag of Russia.
Before Petersburg - Arkhangelsk was the only seaport in Russia. In XVII century and became the shipbuilding town. After the appearance of St. Petersburg is becoming a major timber industry and lesoeksportnym center of Russia.

University, and several branches of the capital's universities, a number of institutions of secondary vocational education (Arkhangelsk regional college culture and the arts, the Arkhangelsk Regional College of Music, College of Forest Engineering, College of Communication), 50 institutions of supplementary education of children (music, art schools and art schools), 1 institution Continuing Professional Education (Arkhangelsk Regional Training Center for Professional Cultural Organization), Scientific-Production Center for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments, 2 recreation parks.
