Human beings are conservative, lazy and stingy. They are very reluctant to buy new things to replace old ones, if those old work fine. Besides, some of the "obsolete" items you;ve listed are not at all obsolete. Notebook will never replace desktop computer completely becasuse desktop is much more flexible in design - I can replace individual components in the desktop when I feel like it (or when this particular component becomes outdated), and there are no notebooks whatsoever with 24" monitor. And I use two for my everyday work.
Same goes for fuel-powered cars. You think people who buy TODAY brand new cars will throw them away in ten years? Like hell! With all the progress in electric cars, they can not compete now and unlikely will be able to compete in nearest decade or two with gas-powered cars in terms of power and mileage. Modern gas-powered car can run 1000 km between refuelings - and there is nothing like this in electric cars. Besides, mass-scale transition to electric cars needs absolutely new (and much higher than now) level of energy generetion - i. e. new power plants, and PLENTY of them. Which is impossible without thermonuclear power plants - and this is not at all our nearest future...

desktop computer and Compact disc for sure. Nowadays people already trying to avoid any kinds of CDs. Most of them caring all information on their micro SDs. Desktop computer probably will change its form and became smaller as a gadget
