Gabrielle (Coco) Chanel was born in 1883 in France. When she was twelve, her mother died, and a week later, her father left the family and sent the children to an orphanage. Gabrielle wanted to be famous, but people thought she HAD no chance.
After school, she TRIED (а зачем здесь would?) to sing and dance with an idea to make a THEATRICAL career. Initially, it didn't bring her much luck, and her audience gave her the nickname Coco.
In 1910 her friend Arthur Capel and her fans helped her to buy a hat shop in Paris and she made it a big trendy salon. After that she opened two fashion studios in Deauville and Biarritz. It brought her A great success, and she started her career.
People liked clothes DESIGNED BY HER, because they WERE very original and practical, and everybody could wear it. She also produced perfumes and acted in films.
Coco was 87, but she didn't retire. On January 10, 1971 she was very tired and didn't feel well, so she went to bed. She died in her sleep.
