Once I gave a task to my student to write an essay about the place that is best to hide from the attention or influence of mass media if it is possible, in principle.
Absolute majority of the essays, naturally, boils down to the fact that it is possible to hide from influence of mass media nowhere and never. Rare discovers were contained only in two-three essays.
First of all, of course, was founded a student who reported that existence of mass media could be simply disregard: not reading newspapers, do not listening to the radio, do not watch the TV. In general it is right but the way of life of a recluse actually take out from the existence into society. The answer of a one student was more interesting: she suggested that in relationships between mother and child the factor of mass media’s influence is absent. If we drop medical-sanitary advices (including through the channels of advertising, that is disseminated in the mass media), it is true. Generalize, it is possible to say that any strong feeling, first of all love, lead out people from the influence of the mass media – at least from the influence about relations with the onject of love.
But the most interesting answer was contained in an another one essay. Its author fairly supposed that the safest place where you can hide from the mass media’s influence is mass media itself. The author of this essay showed by no means student sagacity. Indeed, least of all the mass media and working there journalists are conducive to tell the truth about their own secrets, even if this truth is extremely important for the society. This fact is a good thing to think about for devotee of public discourses about the particular morality or the special journalists’ truthfulness.
