...I'm having a busy time at the moment as I have to write lots of Christmas cards to all my friends and relatives. Do you celebrate Christmas in Russia? What holidays are celebrated in your country? What is your favourite holiday? How do you celebrate it?

Dear Jackkie,
It was great to hear from you. I am sorry I haven't answered earlier but I was too busy preparing to New Year concerts. From your letter I can see that you are busy too preparing to Christmas
I will write a little about how Russian people celebrate Christmas which is considered one of the most celebrated holiday in Russia. I must admit that After the October Revolution and Soviet Union's establishment people stopped celebrating this holy holiday almost for seventy years. But after collapse of Soviet Union this tradition has been restored. Now it is both religious and state holiday. People usually go to church in the morning and after service they gather at home at around table, giving each other presents and eats and drinks. As English people we send postcards to our relatives and friends. On the first of January we celebrate New Year almost with the same traditions as Christmas. As for me The most favorite holiday is Victory Day. In the center of Russian Hear t known as the capital city Moscow a lot of arrangements are held such as the traditional parade on Red Square, concerts and meeting with the dearest veterans who took part in the World war Two.
Well, I'd better go now as I have to do my homework. By the way, where are you going to celebrate Christmas? Do you visit church on Christmas day. Then write to me if you celebrate Easter.
