I'm no grammar expert, but I think the use of "to" in marriage is used in the passive voice.
1. I got married to Jessica (passive) vs I married Jessica! (active)
2. She is married to Simon (passive) vs She marries Simon.(active)
3. Charles has gotten married to Rebecca (passive) vs Charles has married Rebecca.(active)

You can put a pronoun or a common noun (name) in either and it will be okay:
1. I got married to her vs I married her.
2. She is married to him vs She married him.
3. He has gotten married to her vs He has married her.

Married with

The phrase "married with" in the context you gave has is really nothing more than a way of expressing that two things are brought together and essence of each is apparent in an object. The phrase is usually use in the genre of art. Hence, "The show marries poetry with art" is the same as saying "The show has an element of poetry and art to it".

To or With

In general sense, when referring to persons, you would use "to". Like I said, "married with" is just an expression. There is however the personification of things, so often you hear people say, "I am married to my work.". Here, work is personified.
