2. For how long has she been writing this book? Если книга только что закончена (или, если давно написала - how long did it take her to write this book?)
3. The boys have been looking for the treasure for six months already.
4. I know her all my life.
5. What have they been doing since we left? Чем они занимались с тех пор как мы уехали (или, что они сделали с тех пор как мы уехали: what have they done since we left?)

По-английски как ни скажи — почти всё будет правильно. Только вот смысл изменится. Поскольку English teacher сумели издать греки, понять их логику нашему человеку непросто. Кроме заведомо неправильного

остальное ситуационно правильно. А как насчет моего

5. What did they do since we had left? При учете того, что это 'do' обобщенное и потому неконкретное? Например, 'discuss'?

What did they discuss since we had left? (Что продолжают в тех научных кругах обсуждать с тех пор, как мы уехали оттуда лет десять тому? Всё ту же чушь? )
