Потому что англичане в свое время победили испанцев, если бы тогда победили испанцы, то все бы сейчас говорили на испанском... хотя испанский язык в мире тоже очень распространен.

потому что в америку свалили в свое время толковые со всех стран и всех языков, а тама уже англицкий прижился (Бостон) , а не Голландский (Нью Йорк)
вот и получилось что проще всем на одном говорить, а не всем каждый учить, а так как связь не терялась с родиной пошла обратная волна взаимосвязей по бизнесу.

потому, что букв меньше - легче запомнить

английский сейчас престижно знать. всё таки один из самых распространённых. И очень удобный язык ( на мой взгляд) без всякой путаницы
