One man passed away. His dog has lain down beside, and ceased to be, too.
And lo, here is the man's soul standing before the gate, and "Paradise" is inscribed on the gate, and dog's soul standing beside man's soul. And the sign on the gate says, "No dogs allowed". Never did the man enter this gate, and on he went.
So, on they go along the road, and here, they see another gate, with no sign on it, and just an elder sitting nearby.
"Excuse me, sir, what's there, behind this gate?"
"The Paradise".
"May I enter with my dog?"
"But of course!"
"And what was behind the other gate, up the road?"
"The Hell. Only those who don't desert their friends can reach the Paradise"

There died a man. His faithful dog lay down beside him and soon died, too.
His soul reached the door with Paradise inscribed on it and lingered there, the dog at his side, faced with the note: No pets, please. The man turned away and went off.
They went down the road, man and dog, and came to a nameless door guarded by a lonely old man.
- Excuse me, sir, what's there behind this door?
- It's Paradise.
- Can I take my dog along with me? (Are dogs allowed in?)
- You certainly can. (They sure are)
- And what is that door up the road?
- It leads to Hell. Only those who don't abandon/leave (stand by) their friends make it as far as Paradise.
