Глагол, в принципе, можно использовать любой в любом из этих случаев:
Объодиться (без кого-л. / чего-л. ) do without, manage without, dispense with, go without

Но можно вообще иначе:
There is no life without food and water. - Без еды никак не обойтись.
There is no fest without bier. - Куда же мы без пива )))

Who could live without food and water for a few weeks?
How long could they live without food and water?
Could they or they couldn^t live without food and water?
We could live without water and food for a few weeks, couldn^t we?
Do you live without food and water for a few weeks?
Are you living without food and water now?
